According to the just released INEC list, the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] do not have a gubernatorial candidate for the 2015 exercise in Imo state. The list depicts that the Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha and his current deputy, Prince Madumere would be flying the party banner for the All Progressive Congress, (APC) while Captain Iheanacho will be flying the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) banner.
The deputy speaker of the house of representatives, Hon.Emeka Ihedioha has been embroiled in a tussle of the results of the PDP gubernatorial primaries with the other contestants – which included the former governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim and another stakeholder in the party, Mazi Ararume. The primaries was tagged inconclusive following the pronouncement by the three major players, that they had won the primaries.
Ohakim in an interview pointed to a possible external influence as responsible for the troubles with the party in Imo. He implied that the executive administrators in the state may be responsible for the inability of the PDP to present a governorship candidate.
