Renowned British-born American photojournalist, Luke Somers and a South African teacher, Pieree Korkie held by Al-Qaeda insurgents in Yemen were killed yesterday during a failed U.S.-led rescue attempt.
The failed raid was ordered by President Barack Obama because he feared imminent danger to the reporter.
Initially, Al-Qaeda had posted a video online threatening to kill photographer Luke Somers but promised to release the South African, Pieree Korkie today, 7th December. Unfortunately, American forces in conjunction with Yemeni ground troops launched a 2nd rescue attempt which led to Somers and Korkie being murdered by the AQAP insurgency group during the course of the operation. May their souls rest in peace...Amen.
