Hon. Dakuku Peterside emerges as APC Consesus Governorship Flag-bearer of Rivers State

According DAILY POST, the Rivers State fraction of  All Progressives Congress (APC) has selected a consensus candidate to run for the 2015 Governorship election. The state elders of the APC settled for the Lawmaker representing Andoni-Opobo-Nkoro at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Dakuku Peterside to run for the exalted position.

Interestingly, the other Governorship aspirant, Senator Magnus Abe and Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Leyii Kwanee who are from Ogoni were at the meeting when the decision to select Hon. Peterside was reached. 

The name of Hon. Dakuku Peterside has since been sent to the state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi for ratification. Hon. Peterside was a former Commissioner for works during the first tenure of Amaechi.

Going-by,  the selection of Peterside, it is now unclear what the fate of the Ogonis who have been clamouring for “justice and equity” will be.
